The main activity of NORDSIM deals with the realization of numerical simulation studies
In NORDSIM the core of our business is the numerical simulation. In this area, our main goal is the development of simulation models to satisfy our customers requirements. The approach for a new customer who wants to evolve his designs grows from simpler models to more complex ones by the introduction of the coupling of different physics to foresee phenomena hardly seen otherwise.
Through numerical simulation tests are carried out to our Customer designs in a virtual environment avoiding or reducing the investment in prototypes and experimental installations. Benefits can be seen comparing a new design against an earlier one to quantify improvement or to take correcting measures where improvement has not been achieved. An iterative procedure leads to a substantially more advanced product.
NORDSIM CALCULATIONS CAPACITY INCLUDE:
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA): finite element method calculations.
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD): computational fluid dynamics calculations.
- Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI): fluid-structure interaction coupling CFD and FEA calculations.
Our main simulation tools are ANSYS and openFoam, which are complemented by an extended set of tools at our disposal.
It is interesting to note that conventional calculations in engineering are usually simplifications to make an analytical solution possible while the original expressions in which these simplified expressions are based, PDEs, can be solved numerically. The error margin can be substantially lowered in many cases by the numerical simulation calculation approach.
